Hi
I have an online forum but i am not able to really push it. One reason can be owed to the fact that the posts on the forum are minimal. So i clearly see that i should increase the no. of posts. The view column gives me an idea that people are visiting the forum but no one is really posting. Also when i visit related sites and post over there, people do follow the thread and see our portal. I am trying my level best to have good content and also site which is handy and easy to navigate ...still i want to find out, what more should i do? Kindly advise and also suggest. Suggestions can always open doors ..

The problem with forums is it's like a continuous conversation, the ways I can think of to improving it is the mods jump on every question and answer things to the best of your ability to show that you guys know what your talking about and they will come back in the future and friends
If you leave people with questions unattended, they'll go elsewhere

Be clear what the forum aims to do - particularly how it is different from other forums in the same niche.
Be sure that visitors can see that difference on arrival.
There are millions of forums out there ... however hard you work, yours won't thrive unless it's 'special', and meets a need, a gap in the market.

Some forums have people populate post for them to get the ball rolling. Everyone wants to be part of something.

jazardezign is right, you need to seed it. Usually you need to pay people to participate. you can also outsource this and pay pennies a post.

IMO, the most successful forums draw members in because there's a "front page" that already has an audience.
A stand-alone forum is hard to promote.
